First, disable Fast Startup in Power Options (Control Panel) - Change What the Power Buttons Do. I have more success with this procedure when running on battery. I've fixed this problem before, and I haven't seen this exact solution online before. Did not end up finding out what happened - I suspect a hardware problem. LAST EDIT: I returned it and got a new one. Could it be an issue with Windows updates? Or a hardware problem? Or something else? I had also installed a HDD into the laptop, as carefully as I could.Īny ideas? This issue seems to be quite prominent online, but I haven't been able to find a working solution. Uninstalling the offending driver doesn't seem to be helping, either. I have reinstalled the operating system, uninstalled and reinstalled the affected drivers from Asus' website, and went through the UEFI settings to disable and enable the touchpad, to no avail. This driver is contained within the AMD I2C Controller. (Code 10) A request for the HID descriptor failed. When I went into the Device Manager, I saw that there was a driver throwing errors under Human Interface Devices called I2C HID Device that states: This device cannot start. When I went into Windows settings to find 'Mouse and Touchpad' settings, I noted it only says 'Mouse'. When I started up the computer and added my user account, I noted that the touchpad did not work. Hi everyone! I got a new Asus FX505DU the other day.
